How to use the Markdown Previewer Studio

  1. Paste Markdown, open text files or drop them into the workspace. Keep separate documents in tabs and choose a starting example when needed.
  2. Write in the source editor and inspect the live preview. Use split, editor-only or preview-only layout, and follow document headings in the outline.
  3. Insert formatting, tables, code fences, math or Mermaid diagrams. Remote images stay blocked unless you explicitly enable them.
  4. Your current draft saves automatically in this browser and returns when you reopen the page. Use the autosave and clear-draft controls, keep a named save, download files or print the preview.

What is a Markdown previewer?

Markdown lets you write structured documents using ordinary text. A heading begins with a hash, a list uses simple markers, and links, emphasis and code blocks stay readable in the source. A previewer turns that notation into a formatted document while you write, making it easier to catch a missing blank line, an unfinished table or a code fence that accidentally includes the rest of a page.

Markdown Previewer Studio pairs a code editor with a live rendered preview. Paste a draft, open local text files or organize several documents in tabs. Use the split layout while editing, focus on the source for longer revisions, or switch to preview when reviewing the result. The document outline follows headings, and synchronized scrolling helps keep the visible source near the section you are reading. Search, replace, undo, redo and formatting controls support everyday documentation work.

Write useful documentation with familiar Markdown

The preview supports headings, paragraphs, nested lists, links, blockquotes and fenced code blocks. GitHub-style additions include tables, task lists, strikethrough and automatic links, alongside footnotes and highlighted code. Try the example below to see how a checklist and a table look together. Markdown implementations differ, so a publishing platform may use different spacing, permitted HTML or extensions. Review important documents in their destination before publishing them.

Explain ideas with math and diagrams

Include mathematical notation and fenced Mermaid diagrams when a formula or flowchart communicates more clearly than prose. The preview renders these features locally and applies diagram resource limits. Unsupported or malformed diagram input is shown as a rendering problem rather than executed as page code. Examples are useful starting points for learning the accepted notation; you can change them and observe the result without installing a separate documentation project.

Return to your draft in this browser

Parsing happens in a browser worker and source is not uploaded for rendering. The editor, filenames and rendered document are excluded from analytics capture. Autosave automatically saves your current draft in browser storage; reopening the page restores your files and settings, even after closing the browser. Turn off autosave or clear the draft with the workspace controls. Named saves created with Save remain separate, and workspace JSON gives you a portable copy. Drafts and named saves depend on browser storage; clearing browser site data removes them. Clearing only cached images and files may leave site storage intact. The workspace accepts up to 20 text files, at most 1 MiB each and 5 MiB combined, and parsing has a five-second processing limit.

Remote images are blocked by default because loading them contacts another server. Explicitly enabling external images lets your browser request those URLs, which can expose your IP address and the image request to that server. Following an external document link also contacts its destination. Raw HTML is sanitized and preview content is isolated so submitted scripts and unsafe event handlers cannot run. The preview is intended for documents, not interactive applications embedded in Markdown.

Move a finished draft into your workflow

Download the current Markdown file to keep its editable source, export the rendered HTML for a document copy, or save workspace JSON to move all open files and settings together. Use the browser print dialog for paper output or a PDF destination when available. Exported documents and workspaces contain their contents, so choose where to store or share them deliberately. For a source review, compare the old and new versions with Code Diff; for code snippets inside a document, inspect their supported syntax separately with Syntax Checker.

Frequently asked questions

Will my draft return after I close the browser?
Yes, when browser storage is available and autosave is enabled. Your current files and settings save automatically on this device and restore when you return to the page. You can turn autosave off or clear the draft. Named saves remain separate. Clearing browser site data removes drafts and named saves; clearing only cached images and files may not remove site storage.
Is my Markdown uploaded?
No. Parsing and rendering happen in your browser. Source, filenames and preview content are excluded from analytics capture. Automatic drafts and named saves stay in browser storage on this device. Export a workspace file for a portable backup.
Which Markdown features are supported?
The preview includes headings, lists, links, blockquotes and fenced code, plus GitHub-style tables, task lists, strikethrough and automatic links. It also supports footnotes, math and Mermaid diagrams. Rendering may differ from a particular publishing platform, so check the destination when exact compatibility matters.
Can pasted HTML or diagrams run scripts?
Raw HTML is sanitized and the preview is isolated so submitted scripts cannot execute. Mermaid diagrams are rendered with restrictions and resource limits. Script handlers and unsafe URL schemes are removed rather than treated as document functionality.
Why are external images blocked?
A remote image request can reveal your IP address and the requested image URL to its server. Images are blocked by default. Enable them only when you want the preview to request those resources. Following a document link also navigates to its destination; Markdown source itself is not uploaded for rendering.
What can I export?
Download the current Markdown source, a rendered HTML document, or workspace JSON containing your source files and editor settings. The browser print dialog can print the preview or save it as a PDF when your browser provides that destination. Treat exported workspaces and documents as copies of their contents.
Can I edit several documents?
Yes. The workspace supports up to 20 text files, at most 1 MiB per file and 5 MiB combined. Tabs retain their editing state. Parsing runs in a worker with a five-second timeout; large or invalid diagrams also have limits so they cannot hold the preview indefinitely.
